Visitors can expect an interactive tour of this innovative modular complex.

Bouwcampus 2.0, a joint project of POM Limburg, Embuild Limburg and UHasselt, stands for bold experiments and groundbreaking ideas. "At Building Campus 2.0, it's all about innovation in construction," says Tom Vandeput, deputy for Economy and chairman of POM Limburg. "With a focus on digital and circular construction techniques, limited use of materials and maximum adaptability, Building Campus 2.0 will be an example of 'practice what you preach'. It is a crucial step towards a sustainable and innovative construction sector, where we use these new building methods to meet the challenges of tomorrow. This is not just building with bricks, but with ideas, sustainability and inclusiveness as its foundations."

Pioneer in building innovation
Tom Vandeput continues: "Construction Campus 2.0 is not only a physical location, but it is above all a dynamic ecosystem in which knowledge institutions such as UHasselt, construction companies and expertise centres come together. The campus offers an innovative environment for research, advice, and collaboration. With this, Limburg is putting itself on the map as a pioneer in building innovation, and the new parking building is tangible proof of this."

Story behind the yards
"Embuild is putting extra emphasis on the story behind construction sites during Open Construction Sites Day this year. Your first house, the swimming pool in your village, your old primary school, the bridge you always come across on your daily cycling route: all made possible by the construction industry. These are the places where we were able to write our own story. And now, together with the public, we want to keep building on these stories," said Chris Slaets, managing director and director of Embuild Limburg. "Open Construction Day offers us a unique opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and innovation. We want to not only open the doors of our construction sites, but also inspire the minds of our visitors so that together we can build a more circular future for the construction industry. The parking building helps write the story of Building Campus 2.0, a story brimming with innovation and forward-thinking ideas. This construction brings us another step closer to the goal of making Bouwcampus the ecosystem for the entire Limburg construction sector."

Flexibility
The new parking building embodies this forward-looking approach. With the possibility of adding an extra floor, the number of parking spaces can be significantly increased. "The building is all about flexibility," says Thibaud Demot, CEO of Democo Group. "Thanks to a modular construction, it can be easily adapted to the needs of the moment. Think, for example, of higher ceilings and a central ramp that can be removed if necessary. Because you can easily rearrange and reshape the building, it also retains its value in the long term."

Realisation in less than six months
Also noteworthy is the speed with which the building was erected, with the entire concrete structure created in less than six months. This was made possible by the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), a digital 3D model of the building, and the prefabricated construction of concrete elements. By integrating solar panels, the building is self-sufficient in energy and designed with energy efficiency in mind.

Open Recruitment Day
During Open Construction Day on Sunday 26 May, visitors will get an exclusive look at the construction site, all the way to the top of the building. A construction model shows the future of Limburg DC, and information boards provide the necessary context. Moreover, visitors can try out some building tools.
