This means that these projects contribute to SALKturbo's ambition to make the Limburg economy more competitive, digital, sustainable and inclusive. The counter now stands at 82 SALKturbo projects, accounting for an investment volume of more than 232 million euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Flemish Minister for Economy and Innovation Jo Brouns and chairman of the SALKturbo Taskforce Tom Vandeput said: \"Five of these projects can start immediately because the Taskforce also approved the use of European funds. Three projects from previous rounds will also receive ERDF support. In total, 18.6 million euros of European support will be brought to Limburg during this round of approval.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Gedeputeerde van Economie en voorzitter POM Limburg Tom Vandeput: \"Almost 9.5 million euros of this is earmarked for the Construction Campus. This campus will be the central location at Limburg DC where entrepreneurs, researchers and governments will collaborate on innovative solutions. The core of the Construction Campus is the Application Centre Circular Construction (AC\u00b3), a large climatic chamber with several complementary research labs. With this project, we ensure the anchoring of a sustainable and circular construction sector in our province. The advantage for citizens is that building will still be affordable in the future<\/em>. \"<\/p>\n<p><em>Flemish Minister for Economy and Innovation Jo Brouns said: \"To finance these projects, Limburg can draw on an exclusively large budget of 152 million euros from the European transition region. A total of 58.3 million of this has already been deployed to make the Limburg economy more competitive, sustainable and inclusive. \"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>SALKturbo's ambition is to strengthen and accelerate the transition of the Limburg economy over a 10-year period (2018-2028) on four tracks: competitive, digital, sustainable and inclusive. Gedeputeerde van Economie Tom Vandeput: \"We are a little past halfway through the planning period. SALKturbo's economic future strategy has been translated into strategic leverage projects that are under implementation or about to be implemented. The impact of these projects will only be felt at the end of the plan period but the entrepreneurship and jobs of tomorrow we are creating today.\"<\/p>\n<p>SALKturbo is a collective Limburg ambition. The connectedness of Limburg stakeholders acts as a strong catalyst for achieving the SALKturbo ambition. Flemish minister Jo Brouns: \"This Limburg unity in vision ensures high quality projects. SALKturbo is the Limburg translation of the Flemish ERDF programme through which the available European funds support and stimulate the investment readiness of Limburg stakeholders.\"<\/p>\n<p>For the transition to an innovative economy, it makes sense for knowledge institutions to come to the fore. Depute Tom Vandeput: \"They also play an important role in the realisation of our thematic campuses. Knowledge and research are essential for innovation. With the Construction Campus, we are ensuring that this knowledge flows faster and better into the construction sector.\"<\/p>\n<p>The ERDF funds also give a boost to urban development. \"With the PXL Energiehub and the Hoebanx site, two sites in Hasselt are being created that are a paragon of sustainable energy supply in an urban context. Such projects fit fully into the transition to a sustainable economy and society.
