DIEPENBEEK \u2013 Those who come to Limburg DC at the start of the academic year should expect exceptionally heavy traffic during the first ten days. POM Limburg, UHasselt, Hogeschool PXL, UCLL and the municipality of Diepenbeek therefore urge students and staff to plan their journey in advance and to come by bicycle or public transport where possible. Those who do choose to drive should first check where they can park and how accessible that parking is.<\/strong><\/p>\n The first days of the academic year are traditionally the busiest on Limburg DC. Every day, large numbers of students and staff arrive at the campus at the same time. Especially during the morning rush hour, this can lead to extra traffic congestion. The campus partners therefore ask that extra travel time be calculated during the first ten days and that, where possible, the car be left parked.<\/p>\n This year, there is also a new traffic situation at Limburg DC. With the new bus connection and free bus lane, the intersection was also renewed and the road infrastructure on the campus was adapted. The free bus lane ensures that buses can travel more smoothly to the campus. For motorists, the new situation means that some parking spaces can be reached via a different route.<\/p>\n To cope with the traffic congestion during the first week, the campus partners are taking extra measures. For example, stewards are deployed in the morning to guide traffic to the available parking zones. At Park H, motorists can park for free, and the campus partners are providing 500 free bus tickets for travel to Limburg DC and back.<\/p>\n Tom Vandeput, chairman of POM Limburg, who is the manager of the campus: \u201cOur call for the first ten days is simple: plan your move in advance and choose cycling or public transport whenever possible. This will avoid the heaviest traffic and often get you to your destination faster. \n<\/strong>During the busiest times, the bicycle and public transport are often the fastest way to reach Limburg DC. The F70 and F701 cycle paths connect Hasselt, Genk, Diepenbeek and the wider region directly with Limburg DC. Those arriving by train can transfer to a shared bike at the stations in Hasselt, Diepenbeek and Genk. Limburg DC is also easily accessible by bus. From Hasselt, Genk and Diepenbeek, several lines run to the campus over a free lane, so there is no traffic. With the Campuspas from De Lijn, students can travel between Hasselt and Diepenbeek without restrictions for 20 euros per academic year.<\/p>\n
