Search for construction team for new Building Campus launched

Modular and circular principles set tone of Building Campus 2.0

The search for an architect and contractor for Bouwcampus 2.0 in Diepenbeek has started. The new campus will be built as sustainably as possible, based on circular and modular building principles. On 27 March, POM Limburg is organising an information moment for potential candidates.

The Construction Campus is - alongside the Health Campus - one of the two large themed campuses being developed by POM Limburg at Limburg DC, the new campus in Diepenbeek. Building Campus 2.0 is intended to become the hub of innovation in construction, and is therefore being built as sustainably as possible. Provincial Executive member for Economy and chairman of POM Limburg Tom Vandeput: "If you build a campus around innovative ideas in construction, you have to put your money where your mouth is. That is what we are doing. The building will be constructed with as minimal a footprint as possible, following today's principles of circular and modular construction. It will be the epitome of innovation, pervasive sustainability and flexibility."

Leader
Building Campus 2.0 will be all about innovative experiments. Various players from the construction sector will meet and exchange knowledge on the campus. The sector has been battling a high mountain of waste and low profitability for years. Tom Vandeput: "Two major challenges that require an important transition from the sector. The one towards digital and circular construction. Limburg wants to become no less than a frontrunner in this, with Building Campus 2.0 as its flagship."

Doing more with less space
To reduce the campus footprint, the basic building principle is 'do more with less space'. This means, among other things: as much as possible will be built in height, on top of the existing paving. The building will also be modular: with as few technical interventions as possible, it can be quickly adapted to another form or functionality. Furthermore, sustainable energy is an important focal point. Circular building principles will be integrated as much as possible.

Info moment
The tendering procedure for the composition of the multidisciplinary team, including a contractor and architect, is now being launched. As part of this, POM Limburg is organising an information moment for potential candidates on Monday 27 March. Those wishing to apply must compulsorily attend this moment. Tom Vandeput: "During the session, we will explain our ambitions, expectations and the further procedure. Potential candidates will have the opportunity to ask questions." You can register for the info moment via the POM Limburg website.
