Biotech company Rejuvenate moves to Diepenbeek

POM Limburg brings new player to Health Campus

POM Limburg is bringing biomedical company Rejuvenate Biomed to the Health Campus in Diepenbeek. The company will open a new site there, for which it will recruit 25 additional profiles over the next five years.

Biomedical company Rejuvenate Biomed, with sites in Heusden-Zolder and Beerse, develops drugs to delay or prevent the onset of age-related diseases. Today, Rejuvenate has ten employees. Besides its Belgian branch, the company also has collaborations with laboratories in Italy, Switzerland and the United States.

25 new people
Rejuvenate is looking for new talent, and wants to create opportunities locally to do so. Therefore, the company is opening a new facility at the Health Campus, from where it will recruit 25 new highly skilled profiles over the next five years. These include scientists, lab analysts, engineers, biomedics, doctors and statisticians.

Founder and CEO of Rejuvenate Biomed Dr Ann Beliën: "At the Health Campus, we can further develop our business. As a company from Limburg, we are particularly proud to work with companies such as Anima Research Center, Amador Bioscience and Clinitude on the future. By uniting in Diepenbeek, we can offer local talent professional opportunities, and this within the entire drug development process: from lab to patient. But recent graduates will also have the chance to develop further on campus. Furthermore, the location is a great added value. Its location at the crossroads with the Netherlands and Germany makes the campus a strategically important base, with a view to collaborations with international companies and cross-border knowledge institutions."

Aging
Rejuvenate has been collaborating with BIOMED, the Biomedical Research Institute at UHasselt, on research related to ageing for some time. In the future, they will also share lab facilities at BioVille.

Piet Stinissen, dean of Medicine and Life Sciences at UHasselt: "We are delighted that Rejuvenate will continue to develop in Diepenbeek. Our UHasselt biomedical researchers are already working closely with Ann Beliën's Rejuvenate team. The company is a reinforcement of our growing Health Campus ecosystem and again offers additional job opportunities for UHasselt life sciences students."

Ecosystem
The arrival of Rejuvenate at the Health Campus in Diepenbeek is in line with POM Limburg's ambitions to build a strong ecosystem around healthcare.

Commissioner for Economy and chairman of POM Limburg Tom Vandeput: "The Health Campus will be the epicentre of innovation and digitalisation in healthcare. This both in Flanders and beyond."

Rejuvenate is the fourth campus resident, helping to strengthen the position of the new campus.

"Besides attracting key international players, such as Amador Bioscience, we want to offer every opportunity to growing companies from our own province. Rejuvenate is a great example of this. The combination of strong international companies and young companies with a lot of potential will only benefit the ecosystem," Tom Vandeput stressed.

The first Health Campus building will open its doors in 2023
