Limburg DC launches brief around orientation and signage on Diepenbeek Campus
From fragmentation to cohesion
Anyone visiting campus Limburg DC today quickly comes up against the proliferation of signposts and confusing naming of different buildings. These make it difficult for visitors to find their destination. Limburg DC therefore started looking for a partner to set up a wayfinding system, an intuitive navigation system that guides visitors smoothly through the campus.
In 2020, POM Limburg and several partners drew the lines of the master plan for the campus in Diepenbeek, which was named Limburg DC. The campus will be a green and vibrant knowledge place where education, research, entrepreneurship and leisure come together. What once started as a collection of institutions next to each other is today growing into one connected campus city.
Getting around campus
The many signposts and confusing naming of various buildings via letters, numbers, etc. make it very difficult for visitors to find their way around Limburg DC campus. Through a 'wayfinding' system, Limburg DC wants to ensure that people can easily orientate themselves on campus and reach their destination easily.
A high-performance wayfinding system allows visitors to know exactly where they are on campus at any time, how to get to their destination and the best way to get there. But recognising his destination and finding his way back smoothly are also part of the plan. With the new system, Limburg DC aims to ensure that visitors can navigate the campus in an informed and safe manner.
'Wayfinding' rollout
Limburg DC is launching a commission to further develop a 'wayfinding' system, building on a previously developed strategy to logically structure and unify the campus.
Specifically, the brief includes the following elements:
- Designing the 'wayfinding' system.
- The realisation, delivery and installation of the physical signage elements on the site.
- Maintenance of the installed physical signage elements.
